The legal profession and their clients – corporate or individual - rely on information to make effective decisions on a daily basis. The decisions you are commonly called on to assist your clients with may be as routine as determining the suitability of an applicant for a position of trust, or as complex as the critical issues related to complex litigation. A crucial business decision concerning a proposed merger, partnership, or acquisition requires the same care in the gathering of facts as an investigation to uncover unaccountable losses, fraud or abuse. |
Investigation is an information business. The investigator you choose to obtain the information you need must gather your facts wherever they may be. The answers may be found in the fine print of a property conveyance. It could be in “the word on the street.” The information you require may be common knowledge to a reluctant witness, or it might be hidden in an obscure electronic database entry. The business decision you need to make might hinge on a quotation in a forgotten press release, an internet web site, or a regulatory action filed in another state. The investigator you use should be as comfortable in the public library as they are on a stake-out — as able to capture and preserve evidence found on the internet as they are at taking a photograph at an accident scene.
